Familiar Places - Lane Brody

A personal note from Lane:
I hope that this recording brings you much peace and that it takes you back to beautiful memories and familiar places you hold closest to your heart. I give this to you with a true appreciation for this great music, and I sing it for you for the pure joy of it. I know I speak for all the talented people involved in this project when I say it was like going into another world. It brought out deep emotions in all of us, and we all realized that these songs and their legacy truly have a life of their own. I thank all of the people involved in making this project happen. I really do not have the words to describe the way it felt. The outstanding musicians on this CD not only played their hearts out, but they musically embraced my voice, allowing me to vocally blossom. They are my brothers and I love them dearly.

I also would like to recognize the incredible engineers and mastering technicians for giving their all in capturing and enhancing the flow, dynamics and emotion of the music with such gentle strength and respect. I give my heartfelt tribute to the memory of the great Ella Fitzgerald, whose recordings I listened to endlessly as a budding young singer. She inspired me to learn the songs and to tirelessly study and practice to them. Her unique, timeless and ever fresh style remains my greatest influence as a singer. I also want to pay tribute to the incredible voice of Johnny Mathis, who I studied as a young singer and who also holds a place in my musical heart. And finally, to the incomparable talent and energy of Pearl Bailey.

My incredibly talented musician husband and musical director, Eddie Bayers, is the one who believed I needed to make this recording. He put everyone together, instinctively knowing that it would work and that I would emerge artistically renewed. I love you, my eternal husband, Edward. I thank God for every good and perfect gift he has given us.

All glory to God, Lane
"Lane has a wonderful voice and is reminiscent of the great singers such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Pearl Bailey. The band is top notch and played the charts with integrity." - Louie Bellson, Jazz Legend
